Personalized Message:
Lauber, Willard H. 79, of Westland, MI passed away on Sunday Nov. 3rd, 2019 in his home with family by his side. Willard was born the son of Tony and Clestine (Powell) Lauber on Aug. 11, 1940 in Cleveland, MO. Willard spent his younger years in Fort Scott, KS prior to serving in the United States Army. Willard worked around the country as a heavy equipment operator for the telephone company eventually making his home in Michigan. In 1985 Willard started his own company as a manufacturer and distributor of fishing tackle and in the 1990’s created what’s known to fisherman across the country as the “Wyandotte Worm” and has been the top producing walleye lure in the state of Michigan for years. Willard enjoyed working, he continued to work 12hr days all the way to just a few months prior to his passing when his body would just not let him anymore. Willard would often say when asked why he worked so much, “When you’re from Kansas that’s what you do is work”.
