Angela Hospice Bereavement Support

Bereavement Care
The loss of a loved one is emotionally painful for all persons involved. When death occurs, family members and friends often struggle to understand the loss and the overwhelming emotions that accompany it.

The process of grieving varies in intensity and length from person to person. It is the goal of the Angela Hospice bereavement team to help relieve a family’s emotional pain and assist them as they begin to look forward to the future.

Both hospice staff and specially trained volunteers give supportive care and counseling to family members and loved ones for 13 months following a death.

Bereavement Care Services:
Caregivers Support Group*
When a person is dying, there are a number of responsibilities that will fall upon family members. To ease the burden on loved ones, the Angela Hospice bereavement team will provide coping strategies to help a family face the challenges of caring for a dying person. These sessions are by appointment only.

Grief Support Groups*
Grief support groups are designed to give loved ones the skills needed to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Grief support groups meet every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 1:00pm and 6:30pm at the Angela Hospice Care Center.

*NOTE: Both support groups are free-of-charge and open to the community.

Personal Contact/Emotional Support
Our staff has trained ears and open hearts, and offers additional support through personal visits and one-on-one counseling sessions.

Memorial Services
Providing a special time for caregivers, families and friends to remember their loved ones, a memorial service is held every six weeks at the Angela Hospice Care Center.

Special Support Groups Offered:
Women Loss of Spouse- A six-week program to help women understand and cope with the loss of their spouse.

Men in Grief- A six week program to help men understand and cope with the loss of a loved one.

Loss of a Parent- This six-week program is for adults who have lost a parent and deals with feelings and issues that they will face.

Holiday Workshop- This 1-½ hour program is offered during the months of November and December of each year. It is for those grieving the loss of a loved one and to help them cope with the holiday season.

The dates and times of the above programs will be announced each Spring.

Arbor Hospice

When you are seriously ill, it's important to be in a place where you feel secure, comforted and cared for-relieved of pain and distress. You want to be surrounded by dedicated, capable, compassionate professionals.

When being at home is not the best option, it's good to be where it's pleasant and home-like, in a community that offers space for quiet reflection, and welcomes your family and friends.

Arbor Hospice has been providing quality service and compassionate care to the terminally ill and their families throughout the region since 1984. We are committed to providing help to families and enabling individuals to complete their lives with dignity, in comfort and at peace. At home or in The Residence of Arbor Hospice, patients and their families are educated, prepared and supported every step of the way. Through our adult and children's bereavement programs, Arbor Hospice offers a comprehensive range of counseling and support services to anyone who has suffered a loss.

At Arbor Hospice, we believe no person should face the end of life alone. Everyone has the right to spend his or her final months free of physical, emotional and spiritual pain. By providing exceptional medical care with compassion, and caregiver support we help families get back to what is important to them.

Call us anytime at 800-997-9266, or click Request Services for an online inquiry. If you have any questions about hospice care or if you are unsure if you or your loved one would benefit from hospice, the Access Center will schedule a meeting, at a time that is convenient for you, with a Patient & Family Liaison. They will help identify your needs, discuss care options and explain how we can help. If hospice care would be beneficial, the Arbor Hospice staff will work closely with all the appropriate people to help facilitate a referral and admission to our program. Arbor Hospice is the community's trusted partner for hospice care.
